The firm was established in 1992 as Walker, Nott, Dragicevic Associates Limited, a name chosen to reflect the leadership and expertise of the founding principals. The firm evolved from predecessor consulting firms dating back to 1973, 1976 and 1981 when it was known as Walker, Wright, Young Associates Limited. Today, the firm is managed by a new generation of planners led by Andrew Ferancik, MCIP, RPP, who collectively continue to build the company upon the solid foundations established by the firm’s founding Principals.

Andrew Ferancik, MCIP, RPP Principal and President
Andrew has over 20 years of planning experience both in the public and private sectors. In 2015, Andrew became a Principal of the firm. Andrew has been, and continues to be, involved in a broad range of projects in the City of Toronto and throughout the Greater Toronto Area with a particular emphasis on urban redevelopment and intensification projects including low-, mid- and high-rise residential, office, mixed-use, retail, institutional, and plans of subdivision. Andrew is also involved in Lease Arbitration and Expropriation cases and is often retained by clients to provide general advice on emerging planning policy issues. Andrew regularly appears before Councils, Development Committees, Committees of Adjustment and the public relative to a wide range of projects. Additionally, Andrew has participated in numerous Ontario Municipal Board (OMB), Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) and Toronto Local Appeal Body (TLAB) proceedings and has been called to testify in defense of his planning opinion on many occasions. Andrew possesses the analytical, communicative and organizational skills necessary to undertake and manage planning projects from start to finish. Andrew is passionate about the role of cities in improving quality of life and promoting economic health and sustainability. A lifelong Toronto resident, Andrew strives to gain an understanding of urban issues from a first-hand perspective, and apply those observations to each assignment. Andrew is a full member of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and Canadian Institute of Planners and a Member of Lambda Alpha (Simcoe Chapter).
Tyler Peck, MCIP, RPP Senior Associate
Tyler has over ten years of experience in the field of planning, and has worked for both public and private sector organizations. His experience covers land use and development planning, as well as sustainability and energy consulting. Tyler’s practice covers a variety of projects in the City of Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area, with a particular focus on urban development and intensification projects. His experience includes providing planning consulting services for low-, mid- and high-rise residential, mixed use, office, retail, institutional, industrial, recreational and entertainment developments, as well as plans of subdivision. He is an analytical and detail-oriented professional with expertise covering the development approval process, planning policy and urban environmental issues. Tyler received a Bachelor of Environmental Studies degree in Planning from the University of Waterloo and also holds a Master of Science in Sustainable Cities from King’s College London. Tyler is a full member of the Canadian Institute of Planners, the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and a Member of Lambda Alpha (Simcoe Chapter).
Shannon Sigouin, MCIP, RPP Senior Associate, Urban Design
Shannon has over 18 years of experience in the field of Urban Design and has worked on a wide range of projects including designing master plans, producing and assisting in implementing plans of subdivision, and developing site plans and conceptual designs. She has extensive experience in the preparation of urban design and architectural design guidelines for numerous projects. Shannon has also peer reviewed many urban design guidelines on behalf of municipalities within the GTA and has developed a good understanding of various practical and insightful solutions they offer. Shannon also has experience in development analysis and approvals, project management and the preparation of expert evidence for the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT). Shannon holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Ryerson University, and is a full member of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and Canadian Institute of Planners.
Sean McGaffey, BES Senior Associate, Planning and Urban Design
Sean’s experience lies at the intersection of land use planning and urban design consultancy services for public and private sector clients in the Greater Toronto Area and beyond. He frequently works with a diverse range of clients to in the development approvals process, with experience in both land use planning and urban design matters. Sean is a dedicated professional whose experience includes the preparation of planning and urban design reports and studies, the coordination of development applications and processing, public consultation sessions, preparation of masterplans and plans of subdivision, development of conceptual massing scenarios, shadow studies and incremental analysis, and development feasibility analysis. He is also experienced in the preparation of visual evidence and explanatory exhibits for numerous Committee of Adjustment, OLT and TLAB hearings. Sean has a broad knowledge of Provincial, Regional and Municipal policies and planning documents and is experienced in urban and rural (agricultural) land use planning and design matters and has appeared before various Councils, Committees of Adjustment and Heritage Advisory panels. Sean McGaffey holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies in Planning with a specialization in Urban Design from the University of Waterloo.
Kevin McKrow, MCIP, RPP Senior Planner
Kevin McKrow joined WND Associates in May 2019 as a Planner, and holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies in Honours Planning (co-op) with a specialization in Land Development from the University of Waterloo. Kevin has two years of prior Planning experience in the private and public sectors acquired through co-op work terms. Before joining WND, Kevin was with a planning consulting firm focused in the practice areas of development application coordination, highest and best use analysis and OLT appeals. Kevin has broad knowledge in the areas of land acquisition strategies, due diligence and feasibility studies. Kevin is a full member of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and Canadian Institute of Planners.
Mike Bennett, BURPI Senior Planner
Mike joined the team at WND Associates in December 2020 bringing over three years of planning consulting experience for a variety of clients in the Greater Toronto Area and southern Ontario. His work has included community master plans, due diligence and development options evaluations, and coordination of development applications in support of residential, office, and mixed-use projects including minor variances, official plan amendments and zoning by-law amendments. He holds a Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning (BURPl) from Ryerson University and previously earned Honours Bachelor of Outdoor Recreation, Parks & Tourism (HBOR) and Bachelor of Arts (Geography) degrees from Lakehead University. Mike is a Candidate Member of the Canadian Institute of Planners and the Ontario Professional Planners Institute.
Thomas Dybowski, MCIP, RPP Planner
Thomas joined WND Associates in November 2020 as a Planner. He holds a Master of Science in Planning and Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto. Thomas has a background in land use planning, policy development and research on affordable housing, retail redevelopments, suburban retrofit, and community services and facilities. Prior to joining WND, Thomas worked in both private and public sectors on a diverse range of planning initiatives, varying from regional to site-specific projects. Thomas is a full member of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and Canadian Institute of Planners.
Erik Retz, MES PI., Planner
Erik joined WND Associates in March 2021, bringing previous private sector experience in land development and planning, with a particular focus in apartment neighbourhood infill development in the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Prior to becoming a Planner, Erik spent multiple years in land surveying and construction, allowing him to approach issues with a comprehensive understanding of the development process. Erik also has experience working internationally as a Building Inspector in Melbourne, Australia. Erik is a Candidate Member of the Ontario Provincial Planners Institute and holds a Master of Environmental Studies in Planning program from York University.
Negar Javaherian, BURPI Urban Designer and Planner
Negar joined WND Associates in July 2021, bringing over six years of previous private sector experience in land development project management. Before joining WND, Negar worked with a real estate development company focused in residential and commercial developments throughout the Greater Toronto Area and Southern Ontario. This experience provided her with a comprehensive understanding of the development process from land acquisition to development approvals and through to construction. Prior to her work in planning and development, Negar spent multiple years in the field of architecture working on a variety of projects including affordable housing. She holds a Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning (BURPl) from Ryerson University and previously earned an architectural degree from the University of Sooreh. Negar is a Candidate Member of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute.
Brandon Leal, MPI Planner
Brandon Leal joined WND Associates in August 2021 as a Planner, and holds a Master of Planning in Urban Development from Ryerson University.
Brandon has over three years of prior planning experience in the private and public sectors, acquired through previous co-op and career experience. Before joining WND, Brandon worked at a leading development firm creating project pro-forma and feasibility analyses for single and multi-phase projects. Brandon additionally worked at the City of Toronto in the Office of Deputy Mayor Ana Bailão overseeing the advancement and review of employment, affordable housing, and mixed-use projects in the community.
Brandon is well versed in the Greater Toronto Planning Framework and has broad knowledge in municipal politics, “missing middle” housing policy, shopping mall retrofit, project due diligence, and feasibility studies.
